A number of our customers have been asking for y2k compliance information.
I am happy to announce that ALL released versions of the Doorway program are y2k compliant. It does not read or use a date, but keeps time by counting timer ticks. Old date limted versions of the beta version of Doorway unfortunately did read the clock, so even though they have expired, they will begin working again on Jan. 1, 2000 and will work for about 89 years. Please download the latest version as these old limited versions have many bugs in them.
Unfortunately the computers used in our operations are not y2k compliant. These computers were purchased and used before Windows 95, and are all old DOS systems. They are not compliant and we do not have the resouces to make them compliant.
We plan to maintain operations until the end of December 1999. On January one of 2000 we will pull the plug on the Trimark Engineering bulletin board which is presently at 423-675-3282 and has offered the latest version of Doorway and support for well over 10 years.
We will attempt to still provide support and software updates via the Internet, but it appears likely that will not be possible due to possible loss of power, phone service or the Internet itself.
We have made arrangements to move our operation to a site that has a natural gas well available for heat, a natural gas backup generator for power and a well for water. But we could still have problems with phone and Internet isp, or other links on the Internet. Obviously we cannot gurantee that we will be reachable if there are major problems with communications or the net.
Depending on the status of the banking system, we are prepared to deal in gold and silver coins for purchases. The normal $30 registration of Doorway will be priced at 1/10 oz of gold or 6 oz of silver. We will have the ability to make change for hard money.
